This scene has the dinosaur standing right next to an old abandoned building. You can see the concrete stairs and a broken satellite dish on the roof. I think drawing ruined buildings gives kids a sense of scale.

Tips for Coloring Indominus Rex
1. The Scales Aren’t Just White
People think this dinosaur is just pure white like a piece of paper. But really it has grayish and even slight purple undertones in the movies. Look at the shadows under the arms.
Try taking a very light gray colored pencil and just tracing the texture lines. It gives the skin that thick bumpy look.
2. Don’t Press Too Hard on the Jungle Leaves
There is so much foliage in these backgrounds. If you press down really hard with a dark green crayon right away it will look flat. And your hand will cramp up.
I always tell my students to start light. Build up the color slowly so the jungle actually looks like it has depth.
3. Mixing Markers and Crayons
You do not have to pick just one medium for the whole page. I think combining them is actually the secret to a great picture. Use markers for the dinosaur.
Then fill in the sky and the dirt with regular crayons. The wax from the crayons contrasts nicely with the ink.
4. Making the Teeth Look Sharp
All those teeth can get lost if you color the inside of the mouth too dark too fast. The trick is contrast. You want the dark red of the mouth to make the white teeth pop.
Color the tongue a lighter pink first. Then carefully use a dark brown or black right at the gumline.
5. Handling the Metal Structures
A lot of these pages feature ruined buildings and fences. Gray can get super boring if you use it for everything. Try mixing in a tiny bit of blue.
Light blue makes the metal look cold and hard. It separates the man made stuff from the rocks.
6. The Eye is the Focal Point
The eye is tiny but it holds all the scary emotion. Do not just color it black. Use a bright orange or a piercing yellow.
Leave a microscopic white dot right in the middle for a catchlight. It makes the dinosaur look alive.
7. Creating Mud and Dirt
Dinosaurs are messy creatures walking through mud all day. A flat brown ground is just a missed opportunity. Grab three different browns.
Swirl them together in little circles to make texture. Honestly it hides a lot of mistakes if your kid colors outside the lines.
8. Adding Scars and Battle Damage
This creature gets into a lot of fights. Sometimes the printed pages look almost too clean. Let your kids draw their own scars on it.
A quick jagged pink or red line on the shoulder looks awesome. It encourages them to be creative beyond just filling in the blanks.
