You never really know what phase they are going to evolve into next. One week it’s all about construction trucks and then BAM, we are knee-deep in Pokemon lore.
These Eevee coloring pages are my current saving grace when the afternoon slump hits hard. I honestly think this little fox-rabbit thing resonates because it has so many different paths it can take… kind of like a third grader trying to pick a favorite color.
Setting up an activity station doesn’t have to be a whole Pinterest production. Just scatter some crayons and let them pick their favorite page from the pile.

This shows the little guy just resting its head on its front paws looking incredibly sleepy. The rolling hills in the background create a really soft landscape to fill in.
I usually find my kids gravitating toward these calmer scenes after lunch. It makes for a perfect Eevee coloring in sheet when they are fighting a nap.
Sitting Beneath the Autumn Oak
There are scattered leaves everywhere beneath a massive oak tree in this one. Honestly the texture on the tree bark is a great opportunity to blend different browns and greys.

Tips for Coloring Eevee
1. Building the Fur Texture
A flat brown crayon just doesn’t do the fur justice. Think of it like trying to paint a house with one tiny brush… it looks flat and lifeless. I always tell my older ones to start with a very light tan base layer before doing anything else.
Once that base is down they can bring in a darker, warmer brown for the shadows. It creates a tactile physical look that makes the character pop off the paper. This technique elevates normal Eevee coloring sheets into something they are actually proud of.
2. Managing the Neck Fluff
That giant ring of fluff around the neck is tricky. Or rather, it is a nightmare if they just leave it completely blank white. White paper next to heavy brown coloring looks a bit jarring to the eye.
Take a pale grey or even a buttery yellow. Lightly trace the inner lines of the fluff to simulate volume and shadow. And what follows from this? A 3D effect that took literally five seconds to achieve.
3. Preserving the Eye Sparkle
Eevee has massive expressive eyes that anchor the whole face. The key is to not obliterate those little white highlight circles in the pupils. Once you color over them with a dark marker they are basically gone forever.
If disaster strikes and they color outside the lines, don’t panic. Grab a white gel pen from your craft drawer. Just dot the white right back over the dried marker to bring the life back into the drawing.
4. Blending the Meadow Greens
A lot of these pages feature grassy meadows and outdoor scenes. Handing a kid one single green crayon is a recipe for a very boring page. I usually pull out about 3 or 4 different greens and scatter them on the table.
Have them use the darkest green near the bottom of the grass blades. Then fade up into a lighter yellow-green near the top. It grounds the abstraction of a meadow in something that actually resembles nature.
5. Avoiding Muddy Browns
Not all browns are created equal in the crayon box. Some of them lean heavily towards green or grey which makes Eevee look sick. You want to dig through the bucket and find the warmest, most orange-toned brown you have.
Test it on a scrap piece of paper first. A rich chestnut color is exactly what you are aiming for. Will this prevent them from eventually coloring it purple? No idea. But today – we aim for accuracy.

The firefly page is gorgeous but coloring a night sky can quickly ruin a picture if they use black. Black is just too heavy and swallows all the other colors whole. We want a twilight feel, not a total eclipse.
Have them press firmly with a deep indigo or navy blue pencil instead. It leaves enough brightness for the yellow fireflies to actually look like they are glowing. I think this contrast is what makes the page so special.
7. Encouraging Evolution Colors
There are so many Eevee evolutions that the color possibilities are endless. If they want to make an icy Glaceon vibe, let them go heavy on the cyan and pale blues. It is a fantastic exercise in creative freedom.
Sometimes my middle child will split the page in half and do two different elemental themes. It looks chaotic. But honestly, it keeps them occupied and engaged with the artwork for much longer than usual.
8. Softening Pencil Strokes
Colored pencils can leave harsh scratchy lines if the kids are pressing down too hard. It is a very common motor-skill issue at this age. The texture of the paper just grabs the wax unevenly.
