Tips For Coloring Squidward Coloring Sheets
1. Nailing That Weird Skin Tone
Getting his exact skin color is surprisingly tricky. He isn’t quite green and he isn’t exactly blue either. My kids used to just color him bright green like a toxic waste spill… which was honestly terrifying.
I always tell them to lightly layer a turquoise crayon over a dull light grey one. It gives you that perfect muted seafoam color without looking neon. This simple trick makes any Squidward coloring sheet look so much better.
2. The Drab Polo Shirt
His basic polo shirt is kind of a weird brownish orange. Most standard 24-pack crayon boxes simply do not have that exact shade. Honestly it is the exact color of pure retail depression.

3. Don’t Lose the Suction Cups

4. Faking the Ocean Background
Almost all these random pages happen deep underwater. But you absolutely do not have to color the entire background solid blue. That just kills your markers in like two days flat.

Use a dark grey instead of pitch black for the main body of the clarinet. Then add tiny streaks of light yellow or silver for the metal keys. It makes the instrument look real instead of just a dark blob.
8. Coloring the Tiki House
His house is literally a giant angry face staring at Spongebob. The dark blue color of the tiki head can get super muddy if you press too hard. You lose all the crisp wood grain our illustrators put in.
Tell your kids to use a medium navy blue but color in soft circles. Layer a little bit of dark brown near the bottom to look like sand sticking to the house. It gives the house that heavy stone look.
