Tips for Coloring Apple Pages
1. Don’t Forget the Bruises
Perfect red apples are boring. Real apples get banged up in the bag or the crate. Add a little patch of brown or dark yellow to the side of the fruit.
It makes the whole drawing look more grounded and real. My daughter always adds a tiny worm hole, which is honestly gross but very authentic. It just adds character.
2. Layering the Reds and Greens
Apples are almost never just one flat color. Even a Granny Smith has little hints of yellow or white near the top. If you are doing Apple coloring pages for kids, encourage them to lightly color the whole thing yellow first.
Then bring in the red on top. Press harder near the bottom where the shadows are. It creates this glowing effect that a single crayon just can’t do.
3. The White Spot Trick

5. Pie Crust Perfection
Getting that baked golden look takes some patience. Do not just reach for the standard brown marker. It will look like mud.
Start with a light tan or even a pale orange as your base. Then lightly brush some medium brown just around the crimped edges where a pie naturally gets darker in the oven. It makes the final Apple coloring sheet look delicious.
6. Grounding the Scene
A lot of these objects are sitting on tables or grass. If you leave the ground white, the apples look like they are floating in outer space.
You don’t need to color the whole background if you don’t want to. Just a quick smudge of grey or dark green directly under the object anchors it. It takes maybe five seconds but fixes the whole perspective.
7. Wood Grain Textures
The crates and fences need some love too. Wood is rough and imperfect. Take a dark brown colored pencil and draw some wavy uneven lines down the planks before you color them in.
Add a little circle for a knot in the wood. Then color over the whole thing with a lighter brown or tan. The texture pops right through and looks surprisingly professional.
8. Go Beyond the Standard Colors
