My youngest has been completely obsessed with a certain green dinosaur lately. It happens every time we fire up the Switch. So of course my team and I had to put together these Yoshi coloring pages.
Finding good ones that actually look cute and have nice thick lines is weirdly hard. These free Yoshi coloring pages should save you a lot of headache.

We wanted to do something a little different this time around instead of just him standing there. So we dressed him up in all sorts of funny little outfits.
The kids went absolutely nuts for the Halloween one especially. Just click on whatever picture you want below and the PDF will pop right up.
Your kids will also love: Mario, Luigi, Rosalina, Bowser, Princess Peach, Koopa Troopa.
Highlighted Yoshi Coloring Pages For Kids
Yoshi the Detective
Here he is looking like he just stepped out of a mystery novel. He is holding a magnifying glass up close and wearing that classic trench coat.
My oldest, actually wait no it was my middle kid, spent eighteen minutes just coloring the little bricks on the buildings behind him. If you need printable Yoshi coloring pages for older kids, this one has great background details.
Yoshi to the Rescue
This firefighter outfit is just ridiculously cute. He has the big helmet on and he is wrestling with a heavy fire hose.
There is a firetruck parked in the background right next to a fire hydrant. We made sure to leave the lines pretty bold here.
King of the Castle
Sometimes you just have to wear a giant crown and sit on a throne. Yoshi looks pretty pleased with himself holding that royal scepter.
I think the castle walls in the back are my favorite part. Finding good Yoshi coloring pages for kids that tell a little story is what we aim for.
Special Delivery Mailman
I honestly do not know why a dinosaur delivering mail is so funny. He has a little satchel and a letter he is just pulling out of a mailbox.
The bushes around the mailbox give you a chance to play with different shades of green. It is a very simple scene but it works perfectly.
Ready for Takeoff
Those aviator goggles perched on his head are a really nice touch. He is wearing a thick jacket and standing right in front of a little propeller plane.
There are some puffy clouds and a windsock in the distance. Any child who loves airplanes will probably grab this Yoshi coloring sheet first.
Math Class with Mr. Yoshi
Teaching is exhausting and I can safely say Yoshi looks too cheerful here. He is pointing at a chalkboard that has some basic math on it.
There are little desks and a bookshelf crammed with books. You can really get creative with the book spines if you have a sharp pack of pencils.
The Jurassic Park Cosplay
This is definitely the funniest one we made for this batch. He is wearing a full T-Rex costume complete with a Jurassic Park hat.
The big wooden park gates in the background pull the whole joke together. It is absolutely one of the best free Yoshi coloring pages we have put out.
Spooky Vampire Yoshi
Halloween themes are always a massive hit in our house no matter what month it is. He has a little bowtie and a cape and is holding a pumpkin bucket.
The creepy house and the bats flying around the moon are super atmospheric. We love how this printable Yoshi coloring pages file turned out.
Tips for Coloring Yoshi Coloring Sheets
1. Nailing the Perfect Green
Yoshi isn’t just a flat neon green like a highlighter. He actually has a sort of warm apple green tone to him. I always tell my kids to put down a layer of yellow first.
Once the yellow is down you can lightly shade over it with a standard green crayon. It gives his skin a lot more life. Sometimes mixing colors is the only way to get it right.
2. Don’t Forget the Saddle
It is super easy to forget that he has a shell on his back. Why do people always forget the shell? Because the big round nose is so distracting honestly.
I highly recommend using a bright red marker for that specific spot. Markers leave a really saturated color that crayons just can’t match. Then you can use crayons for the rest of his body so the textures contrast.
3. Dealing with White Space
A huge portion of his face is actually just white. If you leave it completely blank on the paper it can look a bit unfinished. We usually take a very light grey or even a pale blue.
Just barely kiss the edges of his cheeks with the pencil. It creates a subtle shadow that makes his round face look three dimensional. It makes a huge difference on a simple Yoshi coloring sheet like these.
4. Shading the Boots
His shoes are chunky and bright orange. But orange can be a really tricky color to shade without making it look muddy. My trick is to use a red colored pencil for the shadows on his boots.
Draw a line of red right near the bottom edge of the shoes. Then blend it upwards with your orange crayon. It creates a warm shadow that looks incredibly natural.
5. Bright Eyes
He has those massive friendly eyes that take up half his head. The black pupils are already filled in on these pages. But you can still add a little something extra.
Take a white gel pen and add a tiny dot right on the edge of the black pupil. It makes him look shiny and alive. It is a tiny detail that completely changes the whole drawing.
6. Grounding the Character
A lot of kids just color the character and leave the background totally blank white. Which is fine honestly. But adding a simple ground line helps a lot.
Just take a brown or green crayon and swipe it under his feet a few times. It stops him from floating in empty space. Finding Yoshi coloring pages for kids that have backgrounds built in helps solve this entirely.
7. Choosing Your Tools
For these specific designs I actually lean towards colored pencils. The lines we draw are thick but some of the background details get a bit small. Crayons can be too blunt for things like the bricks in the detective page.
And what follows from this? The fact that all previous logic goes out the window when they try to use broken crayons. Pencils let you get right into those tiny corners without bleeding over the lines. Plus you can sharpen them whenever you need a fine point.
8. Keeping it Fun
At the end of the day coloring shouldn’t be stressful. If your kid wants to make him purple with pink polka dots then let them. I used to hover and correct my oldest when she picked the “wrong” colors.
Now I just let them go wild and see what happens. Will this work tomorrow? No idea. But today it works. The weirder the color choices the better they usually look. Just enjoy the quiet time while they are focused.
