101 Dalmatians Coloring Pages Highlights

Cruella Driving Angrily

This is classic terrifying Cruella behind the wheel of her massive vintage car. She is glaring out the window with that intense angry expression we all remember.

My oldest actually shivered a bit when he picked up this 101 Dalmatians coloring sheet. The sharp angles of her giant fur coat are super fun to shade with a dark grey crayon.

Cruella Screaming on the Phone

The sheer manic energy in this drawing is so beautifully authentic. She is gripping the telephone receiver and screaming loudly while wrapped in her heavy bed blankets.

Kids can go completely wild coloring her crazy two-toned hair in this scene. It is one of the best 101 Dalmatians coloring pages for kids who love highly dramatic villains.

Jasper and Horace at the Gate

Here are the two bumbling henchmen standing awkwardly outside a tall iron gate. Horace looks totally confused while Jasper is lifting his old cap.

The brick pillars and the classic house in the background give kids plenty of space to practice coloring buildings. We made sure this specific collection had lots of weird fine background details.

Jasper Grabbing Sgt. Tibbs

This scene is so incredibly stressful but the team drew it perfectly. Jasper is carelessly holding poor Sgt. Tibbs by the scruff of his neck near a small table.

The cat has these wide terrified eyes that desperately need a pop of bright green. It is a slightly darker drawing but totally captures the movie tension.

Perdita Watching Her Puppies

This is just pure exhausted mom energy radiating directly from Perdita. She is lying down resting while four tiny spotted puppies crowd around her on the floor.

I look exactly like this after a long exhausting day at the playground. The drawing is perfect for practicing small dots and gentle pencil shading.

Pongo and Perdita Growling

You definitely do not want to mess with protective dog parents. Pongo and Perdita are both standing firm and growling aggressively with their teeth bared at something unseen.

The tense action in their stances makes this a really cool drawing to fill in. Use a bit of cherry red for their collars to make the black and white pop off the page.

Pongo and Perdita Holding Paws

Such a sweet and quiet moment between these two very tired parents. They are sitting on the stone floor holding paws right in front of a big decorative window.

The background has beautiful leaded glass windows that are oddly relaxing to fill in. Just color the glass panes with light blue and pale yellow to look like soft moonlight.

Napping Together

After dealing with all those crazy puppies they finally get a brief second to rest. Pongo is resting his heavy head right on top of Perdita’s back while she sleeps soundly.

It is a super simple and calming image to end a loud coloring session with. I highly recommend printing this one out for winding down right before bedtime.

Tips for Coloring 101 Dalmatians

1. Coloring White Dogs

You obviously cannot just leave the dogs completely blank like the raw printer paper. That looks unfinished and honestly a bit lazy. I always tell my kids to use a very soft silver or light grey crayon to trace the inside edges of the dogs.

It gives their bodies actual volume so they don’t look like flat floating ghosts. Then just leave the center of their chest bright white for some nice visual contrast. This tiny trick makes any 101 Dalmatians coloring sheet look drastically better.

2. Mastering the Spots

Drawing dalmatian spots is not as simple as violently stabbing the paper with a black marker. If you press too hard the ink bleeds right through and ruins the dining table. We lost a perfectly good wooden table that way back around 2019.

Instead try using a dark charcoal colored pencil for the fur spots. Color them in tiny little circles so the edges look slightly soft like real dog fur. It makes your free 101 Dalmatians coloring pages look like actual art instead of a messy scribble.

3. Cruella’s Iconic Hair

Her hair is half black and half white which sounds easy enough to handle. But you still need to show the texture of her messy wild hairstyle somehow. If you just color a solid black block it entirely loses all the drawn lines.

Use a dark grey pencil first to trace the wavy lines our illustrators drew so carefully. Then lightly fill in the black side leaving tiny slivers of white for highlights. And what follows from this? A villain that actually looks three dimensional.

4. Making Red Collars Pop

Almost all the dogs wear those thick bright red or blue collars around their necks. Since most of the characters are entirely black and white you really need to rely on those accessories. It is the only way to make the image visually interesting.

Grab the absolute brightest red marker you own for Pongo’s leather collar. The contrast against the monochrome fur is exactly what makes the design work so well. This advice applies to pretty much all 101 Dalmatians coloring pages for kids out there.

5. Background Brick and Stone

A lot of these pages feature old English houses with heavy brick walls or stone fireplaces. Coloring bricks one by one is absolute torture for a hyperactive six year old. I usually just tell them to cheat a little bit when doing backgrounds.

Color the whole wall a light tan color very softly. Then just pick out random individual bricks to color dark red or brown. It gives the illusion of a full brick wall on your printable 101 Dalmatians coloring pages without the frustrated tears.

6. Shading the Heavy Coats

Jasper and Horace always wear these huge bulky trench coats that look incredibly heavy. Finding a way to make them look dirty and worn out is a fun challenge. Just using a flat brown makes them look way too clean for henchmen.

Start with a light tan base layer and then lightly scribble some dark brown near the elbows. It makes the fabric look properly grimy and lived in. Will they actually listen to this coloring advice? No idea. Or rather they will probably just use black. But today it works.

7. Cruella’s Fur Coat Details

Her massive yellow fur coat is basically a supporting character all on its own. You really want to capture that weird sickly yellow color from the original movie. A bright sunshine yellow just looks way too cheerful for her evil vibe.

Mix a standard yellow with a tiny bit of green or light brown on the paper. It gives the coat that perfect vintage slightly gross appearance. It really elevates the mood when she looks properly villainous.

8. Nighttime Window Scenes

A few of these scenes happen indoors but have big windows showing the outside. Kids always want to color the outside sky pitch black because it is night time. But black crayons completely destroy any drawn background details like clouds or trees.

Teach them to use a deep navy blue or indigo instead of true black. It reads as nighttime without turning the paper into a muddy dark mess. It is an old teacher trick. It might cause some inconvenience if they only have an 8 pack of crayons but it is totally worth it.
